A Neck Lift provides a solution if you are searching to improve the appearance of your neck and under your jaw line. Today, men and women in their 50s and 60s are healthier and more productive than ever before and they are choosing to age gracefully by setting back the clock through facial cosmetic surgery. The aging process can take a big toll on your neck, causing sagging, loose skin and folds that may make you look older than your actual age. Loose skin in the neck also often develops after substantial weight loss or post bariatric surgery.
A neck lift (also called platysmaplasty) is a cosmetic surgery procedure that removes the loose skin and tightens the muscles to help you look younger. Liposuction may also be a part of the procedure to remove excess fat from the neck. A Neck lift is often performed in conjunction with other facial surgery procedures, such as face lift, or blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery). By sculpting the deeper layers, Dr. Palmer can rejuvenate your neck without any noticeable signs that you’ve had “work done.”
Although aging is inevitable, a neck-lift improves your overall appearance by:
You need look no further than our before and after photo gallery to see that results from neck lift surgery by Dr. Palmer are remarkable. And while his results are dramatic, they are also completely natural looking.
It is critically important to choose a highly skilled doctor who understands that each patient is different and requires a customized approach. Dr. Palmer has a unique talent for achieving a younger-looking, refreshed appearance while maintaining your neck’s unique character. In your initial consultation, he will perform a thorough examination of your neck shape, skin elasticity and bone structure to determine the approach that will work best for you.
When performing a neck lift, Dr. Palmer places Incisions under the chin and/or behind the ears where any scars will remain hidden. The neck skin is undermined off the muscle and the loose muscle that causes the band formation is directly tightened. Any excess fat in the neck or in the jowls or jawline is removed. If excess skin needs to be removed it will be done at closure, however it is very common that the skin can be simply redraped over the muscle to remove all laxity.
Some swelling and bruising is expected for several weeks after neck lift surgery. Pain medication can manage any discomfort you experience which is usually quite tolerable. Most people return to work within 1-2 week, but exercise should be avoided for at least a month.
The final result will be a more defined jawline, elimination of neck laxity and banding, and a more acute angle where the chin meets the neck. It can produce a dramatic improvement in your appearance.
Though a Neck Lift can be performed as a single procedure, Dr. Palmer may recommend combining with other facial surgery procedures, such as face lift, or blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) or laser resurfacing to reverse sun damage and minimize wrinkles. Combining these procedures is more convenient and economical and maximizes results.
