Body contouring surgery encompasses a number of different body sculpting techniques used by cosmetic surgeons to reshape almost any area of the body. Through body sculpting surgery, patients can effectively eliminate excess fat and skin that are unresponsive to diet and exercise.
Body contouring offered by Dr. Palmer includes:
Lower Body Lift: Often necessary to tighten skin of the abdomen, buttocks, upper thighs, and back after massive weight loss. It requires a circumferential skin incision that begins as a tummy tuck incision and extends around the back to allow posterior skin tightening as well.
Thighplasty (ThighLift): When there is excessive skin laxity of the inner thigh, then liposuction alone is not enough to correct the deformity, therefore an excision of excessive skin is performed after the liposuction. The incisional scar may be confined to the proximal inner thigh or extend to the knee, depending on the degree of skin laxity and deformity present.
Brachioplasty (Arm Lift): When there is excessive skin laxity of the upper arm, then liposuction alone is not enough to correct the deformity (“batwing deformity”), therefore an excision of excessive skin is performed after the liposuction. The incisional scar is positioned in between the anterior and posterior musculature of the upper arm from the elbow to the armpit to help conceal the final scar, however the scar is necessary and is the tradeoff for this procedure.
